I want to buy about a year's supply of rice for a family when I arrive in the USA, so that I do not have to buy it at Walmart where it is more expensive. Does anyone have a good recommendation for an American wholesaler? I thought it would be easy using Google but apparently not.

A years worth?

Where you gonna keep it?

That would require a grain silo.

I recommend weaning them on some local Texas, Louisiana, or Arkansas strain.

For sure....weaning them off rice, of any kind, is a good thing.

We got our rice from the local international market. It wasn't that expensive and we bought it in 20kg bags. I can't remember what the exact price was, but it wasn't that much.

What city are you trying to do this in?

What amount are you talking about? How do you intend to ship it?

If you are taking it by air with you, you will only be talking of a few kilo's. So you wont be needing an wholesaler?

The OP want to by rice in USA, please explain how this is Thailand related?

Most likely because he wants to buy Thai jasmine rice because it is a preference of his family , so what ?

Let's let this one ride for now. I am also assuming he wants to buy Thai Jasmine rice in the US. That's exactly what we had to do. Hope we can help them out...and not really sure what other forum this would fit in! :(

dumball, " Most likely because he wants to buy Thai jasmine rice "

Where did the OP say this?

All jasmine rice is Thai. Fragrant rices from other countries may not be called jasmine.

To the OP, jasmine rice is readily available in most Asian markets (SunHee brand, for example, is pretty much in every store). And there are some very similar strains grown in the US which have similar sounding names.

Though I dont know of any wholesale rice markets in CF, I can tell you that there are many Asian Markets where you can get any Rice you like at a very good price. There are very large Asian supermarkets on Colonial Drv , one is on the south side of I 4 about 2 miles , on the west side of Colonial drv, the other is on the north side of of I 4 . about 4 miles on the west side of Colonial drv also in a shopping center called Chinatown.Your Thai wife would be very Happy there. North of Daytona in Palm Coast , there is an Asian Market that is owned by a Cambodian couple,Have everything there that a Thai cook might need.

PM me for exact directions.

B) Central Florida is full of Thai and Asian supermarkets. All of them will have 25 and 50 lbs. bags of Thai Jasmine rice at a decent price.

Best place and cheapest bar none is COSTCO. Last purchased at $16.99/25 Lbs bag. The price is far better than any Asian markets which typically charged approx $39.00/50 Lbs for Jasmine Rice. They also have automatic rice cooker for $19.00...which is far less than other department or Asian store price.

Every time my gf goes to L.A. she goes shopping there. She's an experienced shopper, the less I can say, so it should be a good place.

My second guess would be your local Chinatown.
