Hi

I will be staying in Chiang Saen this November for approximately 12 -months, Can anyone recommend a health insurance provided who may insure me for that period, My age at time of arrival will be 65.

Ideally I would prefer to have some sort of system (health card) where you do not pay up front, perhaps only excess. I'm thinking of mainly in-patient related health care, as I'm happy to pay for the 'run of the mill' GP visits etc..

If anyone is of similar age and has experienced health insurance, an idea of premium would also be useful.

Many thanks.

Keith

Any preexisting health conditions? It is well documented on this forum that being age 65 plus having preexisting health conditions just about excludes you from any pragmatic health insurance in Thailand.

In a heart beat.

Thanks Guys

Thai visa my first port of call, suggested I try Saga in the UK ?

Good idea for the elderly - not bad rates !

Even you are not familiar with the German language:

this link http://www.reisevers...einem_jahr.html

may give you an idea what premiums are paid for travel insurance up to one year (costs are in Euro per day)

If you prefer to get a health insurance in Thailand

  • April mobilite, French based but communication in English, with member card (=direct payment in hospital), age range up to 65(!), 1 year inpatient $1427, outpatient $1889.

Can be considered as expensive (but there is no limit when you are getting older). There may be also an advantage for preexisting conditions.wink.gif

I am sure any questions can be answered by gary [at] aainsure.net, local AA insurance broker in CM
