Obviously a new comer. When it was in the car park in PP2 the food etc was bloody fantastic, now it's more like a fast food takeaway, food is dreadful, used to go there all the time, don't bother now.

I think the original management sold it to someone without a clue and they made a mess of if all.

I am not sure if he sold Bobby's Arms but about 10 or so years ago Bobby DeCrozier landed the Food concession at International School Bangkok - which has got to be a goldmine.

When I used to pick up my daughter there he was almost always in attendance at the cafeterias, if he still has that concession he probably has no time to look after his less profitable outlets.

I think you're going to have to be a little bit more revealing than that HA.

Do you like the transformation? What's changed there?

Seems to be same same to me.

No hidden agenda - genuinely curious.

I've been visiting Bangkok 3 or 4 times a year for the past ten years and always have a meal at Bobby's Arms. The food seems the same to me but there is rarely another person in the dining room. I assume the changes - adding pool tables, etc - were made out of financial necessity. I believe there was a change in ownership about 5 or 6 years ago. I am not familiar with Bangkok's expat scene but thought some locals could provide some insight.

HomeAlone, I haven't been to Bobby's Arms for a couple of years now, but before I used to go occasionally (Maybe 3-4 times a year). I was always surprised at the lack of people eating there myself. Even went during a few holiday times and the dining area was never very busy.

I always thought I was just lucky. But because it isn't really such a "family" type establishment, maybe it's business was more spread out time-wise. I also met friends their quite a few times (not to eat). Plenty of people in the bar, although again not really packed.

Sad really, it was once a nice place for a decent British slap up feed.

The origional Bobbys was a handy excape from all the noise, sweat, hussle and bustle of what pat pong used to be be but times have simply ...changed.

Now we have expat (type) bars on every corner in Bangers so there is no real need to go out of your way to seek refuge.

I always found that as you stepped through the front door in the back of the car park you were immediately transported (almost in time)to what you might consider a cool relaxed, quiet, sociable and inviting "English Pub "type atmosphere where beer was served in pints and meals came with pudding.

The comic postcards in the toilets...big fat ladys with small skinny studs...suitors were also a reminder of those days of saucy hols in Blackpool and Southend when maybe life appeared to be a little bit simpler...says the lady...:o ...before my time...

Jazz on sundays with the odd folk band doing the Irish Rover (paddies night) also provided a welcome interlude especially knowing that just outside was everything you wanted/imagined fun city to be .....and all night long.......

Last time i checked it out it i was not very impressed.

Its now a sort of empty barn type place with noisey TVs in the corners, smelly and dingy with the odd couple of renegate expats you would want to go out of you way to avoid propping up the end of the bar shouting their heads off like loon...and when leaving you now gotta run the gauntlet of kaetoy street but... if thats your thing....MP...riai..

He still owns it and the concession. It hasnt changed hands but he definately takes less interest in it than he should. the latest plan was the section where the kitchen is was going to be turned into a cafe / coffee place more suited to the gay crowd. the main bar would be a gay bar and the actual pub moved to the pizza place beside foodland.

But when or if that happens is much like asking when the airport will open.

There has been no live music for years now. The restaurant bit upstairs is almost always disserted partly because there arent any staff upstairs.

one of them wasnt shouting TUUNE! at the top of his head to the music was he?

Still a good place to watch 2 different footie games at the weekend with 75B long island ice teas on happy hour ( or brain cell killers as i call them ) :o
