Hi

I have a 1 year ED multiple entry Visa. Next month I have to do my second 90 day extension.

I have just finished the course I was doing and will be moving from Khon Kaen to Bangkok in the next few weeks.

When I went to immigration last time I had a letter from the university where I was studying. As I am no longer studying there, they will not help me with another letter unless I enroll on another course with them.

Just a bit of info as a newbie and not just another farang on an ED scam.

Original Visa issued for a 180 hour Thai Language and Culture Course. CMU worked in partnership KKU with regards to courses and payments. Said University took deposit for course, issued Visa letter to me and then cancelled all courses.

KKU restructured 1 year language and culture course @ 180 (1 x 25k baht) to 4 x 30 hours courses (4 x 15k) and wouldn't honor paid deposit….I have done 1 x 30 course to try it out (KK is where I wanted to be) and they did discount the course, but feel it is not good value (2 x 15k = 1 year course @ most language schools) and although the teacher is ok, the course material (just reading out of a 16 year old Thai book), above pervious problems and admin staff that can barely speak English (Thank <deleted> I have a Thai gf)…has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth so to speak, plus as much as 121 teaching maybe better, I was hoping to have studied with people and formed some friendships / study partner.

I'd like to try another school / University somewhere else, but don't think I'll be enrolled / moved etc in time for my extension.. I looked on here, couldn't see a clear answer to me below questions…just wondered if someone could clear them up for me (immigration hinted I could go to Laos, without any problems / letter from school next time)?

So my questions are:

Can I pop over the border (Laos / Cambodia) and get an extension by returning in to Thailand without a letter from said university / school?

Do I have to do anything special for this? Read about people having to get a stamp to leave Thailand for the Visa to still be valid when returning..?

If I go out of Thailand, and have problems without a letter can I get back in to the country on a tourist visa? (Guessing I can get a 7 day extension of stay min, but can I get a 30 day tourist?)

How early can I apply for the extension? I have 25 days till it's due, could I do my trip to Laos, say 15 / 20 days early…before I move?

Can I use this same Visa to study at another school?

Thanks in advance…

And in case anyone asks UK, 30 and have I got other stamps, tourist visas, border runs etc on my passport ? No…..It's empty just my education visa, and 1st 90 day extension from KK immigration.

Your permission to stay ends when you stop your education, as now seems to be the case. So you have to leave the country as you are on an extension of stay.

If you indeed have a valid multiple entry non-ED visa, as long as that visa is valid you will get a new permisison to stay for up to 90 days if you leave and re-enter Thailand. Do it one or two days before the visa expires and get a new 90 days and almost 15 months out of it. No letter is required for this. The visa is the one you got at the mebassy/consulate and says something like "valid till **-**-****".

If it is no longer valid, you will need to get a new visa. Without paperwork from a school you will only get a tourist visa for 60 days. That should give you time to find a new school and you can extend your tourist visa entry by 30 days if need be.

Thanks for reply Mario2008...

I still have 6 months (+ 3 months) on the visa in theory big red stamp in passport "ED" multiple entry visa to be utilzed before 5 oct 2011

2 stamps so far 1 from arrival and 1 90 day extension.

If I was to leave Thailand say next week, would they issue me a new 90 day when I came back in and can that be the same day? (and loose the remaining days I have at the moment)

Know you say a couple of days before, but makes sense while i'm in KK to do it before I head to BKK, i'm not worried about loosing say the 10 /15 days as tbh i don't think my funds won't last the whole 12 / 15 months..esp living in bkk.

Thanks again

And because it's a multiple entry visa..that means i don't need to get a re entry permit before leaving?

Because I already have re entry in the visa?

I just pay to go into Laos (guessng they take out my departure card and am issued a new one when returning), and they will stamp me back in Thai for 90 days without me paying another 1900 baht?

thanks
