Ginkas
Also felt in Changklan. Just a tremor, but lasted for quite a time. Also had four or five similar over the last 15 years, often the result of a minor earthquake in southern China or Burma. Friend from Mae Hong Son just phoned. Felt there for 5 seconds, only. canuckamuck
I'm on the 11th floor of an old 15 story building out near CMU. Swayed quite a bit, and went on for about 20 seconds or so..... 1st report is that it was a '7' 111km north of Chiang Rai in Myanmar Edited March 24, 2011 by canuckamuck

cmsally
That was a long one. Near Tapae Gate. All the trees moving and no wind. I remember stronger many years ago with glasses jingling and roof sheets creaking. But this was long and nauseous.
silverhawk_usa
Still getting some minor shaking near Mae Rim as I write. I did run outside during the stronger one. Be interesting to see where it is actually located. edit: Just saw the other posts with the link, thanks. folium
USGS coming in with a 7.0 magnitude quake in Burma 252 kms NNE of here. looks like we felt the rumblings from that. Rather like Winston Churchill's great statement "there is nothing more exhilarating than being shot and missed".

jaideeguy
Good to hear that it was a smallish local one and not a larger distant one like the one Indonesia that caused the big tsunami. Judging by the water sloshing in the swimming pool, it seemed a little smaller than the big one. Amazing to have such quick reports. Wife and kids were a bit spooked, but for me [from Hawaii], it was just a little roller. It's fun to feel mother nature moving beneath us ...............unless it causes dammage or death. lucky us!! folium
Anyone doing the old visa run in Mae Sai would have really felt that. To put things in perspective, the Tohuku earthquake off Japan as a 9.0 released 1000 times more energy than that quake just now.
