Can a 60 day tourist visa be obtained at this border cossing? I know that there are many agencies that run day trips from Pattaya to Hat Lek for visa extensions. I can't get a straight answer from these agencies as whether I can get a tourist visa or not.

You can only get a 60 day tourist visa at a Thai Embassy or Consulate outside Thailand...eg. Penang.

Confirmed. Unless you have a tourist double entry. Plus, the Khmer officials at the border are scum. I made a report about the crossing at the beginning of December. Try somewhere else.
