one more annoying question my friend is asking before his two week adventure to exotic thailand:

if u can buy real genuine name brands clothes shoes etc cheaper than here (israel for instance) or if everything everywhere is a genuine fake ....and is it recommened to shop in regular shopping malls ........for this stuff or better to buy genuine fake at markets??

i dont need a dissertation, just a few quick yes/no where to go type answers... all the smart mouth anti israeli tourist posters can stay clear i'm losing patience

thanx

If you are talking about Gucci, PRADA, LV, CHANNEL, Hermes and Ferragamo stuffs, you will only find them at Gaysorn Plaza and Emporium as far as in BKK (and perhaps some at Central Chidlom). If your friends will find them elsewhere consider it fake. Make sure your friends will ask for VAT refund when shopping.

i guess that your answers cover what he is thinking : nike diadora whatever....

forgot about the VAT thing

i've never seen anybody agonize so much over a two week trip to a main tourist site in my life!!!

but he's gonna pay for all this internet time: fighting chicken magazines and muey thai mags; and dried fish

Don't forget that he can get the 7% VAT refunded when he leaves Thailand (there are certain conditions though).

I don't quite understand but I have a few Thai friends who work for Thai Airways and they always say that they go to Europe !!!! (Copenhagen and Paris) to get cheap brand names. They also get the VAT refunded when they leave the country.
