Open your horizons and make new friends. Lots of people move on.

Lots to do and see even in the Pattaya area. Get out and about. Don't stick to the same old same old routine.

Maybe this just isn't the life for you here if you think you are happier back in Auzzie land.

Life is what you make of it. A lot that can't be here would gladly change places with you.

We Are the World Bar on Beach Road between soi's 7 and 8 is a good place to strike up conversations. Live music, mostly friendly customers, and not too bad prices for beer. Girls arn't the most beautiful, but plentiful. Lots of people come in to just talk and enjoy the free live music.

They have a sister bar (forgot the name) on the corner of Beach and Soi 8 with live music also.

The drummer there sings some really good BG's songs.

Terry, THIS is the moment to pack your bags and go somewhere else.

This is the moment to get rid of a possible addiction to Pattaya.

See it as a God's gift.

Tto many in Pattaya "Gods Gift" is something that hangs around between there legs.

If you need company because you can't stand you're own, then look for a good looking Thai girl (speaks Engrish) that doesn't work in a bar and set yourself a challenge, it isn't expensive, you can trundle around looking in travel agents, restaurants, reception centres etc. for a nice girl who works during the day and off at night and try your luck, or go to English themed pubs like Queen Victoria in Soi 6 for male chat with farangs, or book an organised trip to somewhere where you'll be in a Group, so you can try something new with a load of others, for that try the travel agents again...!! They'll tell you what's on etc. so there can be lots of opportunities to do something else completely new and something to really look forward to...!! Good Luck...!!

..........;)

All of the above can be found in Pattaya New Plaza. Plus, always seem to find good company there, be it BG or farang.

Try it.

Also, don't stay in a soul-less hotel. Try a guest house in the Soi Buakhow area. Most of the owners are excellent hosts and you'll soon get to know the other guests who are invariably chatty.

Good luck.

Hello the pensioners!

I guess the average age at "New Plaza" is above 60!

For those wanting to meet new people the charity Lighthouse Club arrange networking meetings about once a month. The meetings are informal and are usually held in the bar of some of the better hotels, for example yesterday at the 5-star Centara Mirage in Naklua. I don't know how many there were, several hundreds for sure. The guests are mostly expats but everyone seems welcome, though you probably shouldn't turn up in shorts and a tshirt ;) The entrance fee of 600 is a very good deal considering the free beer, wine and finger food. People generally seem to join these events to meet new people so you're sure to meet a few new friends there if thats your objective.

Why not go to Bangkok and take the overnight train to Chiang Mai. It is something different and nice. Purchase a couple of books in Pattaya before you leave and hit the road. Once in Chiang Mai, or before getting there, book that hiking, elephant ride, bamboo river tour. I did it once and it was nice!

Going anywhere a number of times and going to the same places can get boring. Sure Pattaya can be a lot of fun, but I can understand how parts of the area can get boring.

Terry,

I travel alone most of the time & meet plenty of people .Nothing wrong with hitting the beer bars for some company. Go see Chang mai & then take a trip to Krabi plenty of fun stuff to do. I hooked up with a dynamite Chic That I took from Krabi with me to Chaing Mai & had a wonderful time. She took care of ordering the best food At Thai price & Was a great time. Also was a shtt hot dancer. I met more people when I left Pattaya & went for a road trip. Throw yourself a party everyday & loosen up & it'll come to you. Least that can happen is you have a hookup & enjoy however long the ride is. And if the girl isn't what you had in mind Roll the bones again. And can be done on a small budget to boot!

Just don't be fallin in love !!!!!!!!!!

Well your flippant comment was very much of the "Thailand can do no wrong" crowd. Clearly the OP has shown some dislike toward this perfect nation and has therefore demonstrated a significant character flaw.

Most certainly not. I am here BECAUSE I recognise the 'warts and all' that Thailand has to offer. Pattaya, in it's simplest form, is a magnification of that.

Stay if you want to, don't stay if you don't want to.

Cardholder: red card for bickering

Makescents to be handed over to the monkey police for the same offense.

...and now back on topic, thanks. B)

I thought that was the topic :whistling:.

Please Sir! Makescent bickered first :redcard2::)

There is little excuse for 'boredom'.

I think it is a product of laziness and a lack of companionship. For boredom read loneliness and a lack of imagination.

Pattaya is more than the sex industry. But, if you are not interested in the sex industry then Pattaya loses 75% of what it has to offer. Look beyond Pattaya (and Bangkok) for interesting things in Thailand - pop back to those conurbations for a reality check now and again (and a visit to a decent cinema).

The OP is already bored with the 'crossed out' activities.

pattaya has more farangs per capita then anywhere else in Thailand so if you can't find anyone to talk to maybe you should consider talking to a doctor? why would you come to Thailand and want to sit in a bar talking to farangs? you think renting a bar girl will help you to meet and talk to farangs?

Let's face it, some people just don't do well when they are alone. Perhaps the OP could meet some of the people staying at the same place he is staying and suggest going out for a beer.

Don't give up. i was in your shoes on a few trips twice i left early once was getting sick but each time once i got home a week later i was wanting to go back. so i decided to take my last trip to LOS in november of last year. i would talk to guys here and there usually were ever i ate breakfast. and since it was football season (american) i found a american bar owner that shows the games Chik-N- Coop (Owners name is Coop). well once i found that place it actually changed my attitude. one he is a great host. he is retired military i'm still in the military but the guys that show up are usually military so there some good conversations. the girls are not pushy. it''s my nar were i have my first drink and i usually show up for my last drink. i actually went back in march. i'm booked for a week in august and another 2 weeks in november.

the point i'm amking is that if you feel bored in pattaya. You got to change it up. i do everything from exercise to trying to get scuba certified . and maybe a side trip to the phillipines

oh, the irony in a man coming to Pattaya and not being able to hook up a bromance :)

and for serious, go to the Outback Bar like dude mentioned. just go there night after night. it's inevitable you'll become one of the guys. but, i think you have to go golfing with those dudes if you really want to connect.

i just like the breakfast. and was sad to hear that Lucky wasn't so lucky afterall...

Since the OP has apparently also gotten bored quickly of this thread it poses the question whether we keep it running. I see some useful advise for future reference for people hit by sudden boredom but then again the OP didn't participate any further which hints to a bit of a troll...

so?

Ha ha well said, so much interestung stuff. If these are the alternatives, I will stay at the bar.

How about banana boat, jet ski scam, renting unlicensed big bikes, sitting for hours in an electric massage chair, buying fake sunglasses, having a chat with an Indian tailor, mixing with Russians in the Outlet shopping centre, sitting in an ice bar, make the gibbon flight, shooting range,.... You select! Nothing for me though.
