Valerian As A Liquid

Featured Replies

Is it possible to get a liquid common Valerian in Thailand?

It is needed to be applied on the skin against itching.

I've checked several pharmacies & drugstores, unfortunately, without success.

Itches?

Take a look at this: http://nccam.nih.gov/health/valerian/

What Valerian Is Used For

  • Valerian has long been used for sleep disorders and anxiety.
  • Valerian has also been used for other conditions, such as headaches, depression, irregular heartbeat, and trembling.

Didn't find anything for liquid in Thailand, tho.

The Valerian I know is like the previous reply, a sort of herbal sleeping tablet which didn't work for me at all.

Maybe you mean Laver lotion?

A 30ml bottle is 25-30 baht I believe. There are other very similar lotions with different brand names available but Laver works for me.

I've got a bottle and the box says it contains Triamcinone acetonide and is distributed by NEO Pharm tel. 0-2905-0951-6

Not every pharmacy sells this brand but my bottle was bought about 6 months ago so it should be still available so keep asking. Can't remember where I got it last but it was a small pharmacy, not a Boots or Watson.

Valerian's seductive effects when taken as pills are renowned.

My mother (she is an old lady now, and not staying in Thailand) asked me for a liquid variety to apply on the skin. I believe she have used it before and it helped her.

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

I would suggest Alladryl ointment or creme.

Calamine lotion and dyphenhydramine (bennadryl) used topically for itching and soothing inflamation.

I think you meant sedative... unless Valerian has a whole other set of properties unknownst to me!

Anyhow no, AFAIK there are no liquid forms here, it is hard enough to find the capsules.

We use Fadril for itches (mosquito bites and such stuff). Very soothing. Most pharmacies have it, cheap, 20 baht or so for a small bottle.

Yes, you're right Sheryl, sedative is the correct word.

I will try to find the alternatives you suggested here, but somehow, I afraid they will not live up to my mother's expectations. You know how the old people are...
