BAGHDAD, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- Two explosions on Tuesday killed three people and left many injured in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported on Wednesday.

Two improvised explosive devices (IED) exploded on Tuesday night in northwestern Baghdad. The terror attacks took place near the Sayid Mohammed Jawad's Husseiniya, a Shiite mosque in Uteifiya district.

As a result, three civilians were killed and eight more injured. In addition, the twin blasts caused material damage to several vehicles and shops nearby. The injured people were transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition.

The first IED was attached to the vehicle of an employee of Baghdad Province's Council. The car exploded and the worker was hurt but survived. Bomb attacks continue occurring in Iraq, mainly targeting security forces but most of them resulting in civilian deaths.

Also on Tuesday, three people were killed in Mosul, in the northern Ninewa province. A unidentified militant, wearing a belt packed with explosives, detonated himself in al-Baaj district. Five civilians were injured as well.

On Monday night, an Iraqi soldier was killed and two others injured when an IED exploded in southern Kirkuk. The attack targeted an Iraqi Army patrol that was near Al-Rashad town.

Two police officers were killed and ten more injured in two bomb explosions in Ramadi, central Iraq last Sunday. In addition, six law agents and four civilians were injured. The target of the explosions was a police patrol.
