BANGKOK, 7 April 2011 (NNT) – The Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) sky train will provide free services for senior citizens aged more than 60 years during Songkran Festival from 13 to 15 April 2011.

BTS Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) Surapong Laoha-Unya stated that senior citizens can get free rides upon producing their ID cards at all 25 BTS stations during its service hours from 6.00 to 24.00 hrs throughout Songkran Festival.

Mr Surapong elaborated that the promotion will be launched in order to promote the Family Day and Senior Citizens Day as well as encourage family members to travel together by using BTS sky train to visit many tourist attractions around Bangkok.

Many well-known monasteries are very close to BTS stations such as Wat Pathumwanaram at Siam station, Wat That Thong at Ekamai station, and Wat Yannawa at Saphan Taksin station.

From Saphan Taksin station, passengers can also connect to Chao Phraya Express Boat service at Sathon Pier, which will lead to other tourist attractions along the Chao Phraya River such as the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Chettuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram, and Wat Arun Ratchawararam.
