I've recently been reading some of Edward De Bono's work 'a course on how to think'.

It's fascinating, I know it gets used in schools because he often mentions his CoRT lessons.

I have managed to use some 6 hat stuff with my M6 classes in preperation for their debate presentations.

-Did a lot on expressing opinions (yellow, black hat)

-Needed to do more on how to find supporting facts (white)

-What if.... and If/will If/would creative thinking (green)

-ed vs -ing adjectives i.e. annoyed vs annoying (red) for expressing emotions about a topic

-summarizing and assesment of what you else is needed (blue)

It worked quite well - of course doing it again I would refine and improve my teaching but I was happy with how it all went. Some of their debates were excellent with some great creative proposals and arguments. (just need a pink hat for pronunciation and a purple one for grammar)

What I want to know is if anyone else has tried any of this stuff. Surely some of it could be adapted for ESL.

Any ideas or experiences?
