BREAKINGNEWS

Chavalit leaves Pheu Thai

Chavalit Yongchaiyudh has resigned as the chairman of the Pheu Thai Party and party member, it was reported.

TNN Cable TV reported that Chavalit has submitted his resignation as Pheu Thai member.

The TV station quoted a source as saying that Chavalit resigned out of his uneasiness that the red-shirt leaders mentioned the Royal Family during their recent rallies.[theNation][/theNation]

Got an SMS that Chavalit faxed his resignation to PTP headquarters. That means Sanoh will be gone within minutes. Chalerm previously departing, and Minkwan wanting to take a block, may see his opportunity to jump clear of the train wreck.

One less General as part of PTP, but they have a replacement at hand already.

It is far too early to know (imho) if this is a positioning strategy to try and draw some swing votes that are offended by the PTP/Thaksin/UDD link and still plan on joining in a PTP coalition government if given the chance, OR a break from PTP/UDD totally.

Am also skeptical of the coalition motivation. It could be a move which will ultimately give them more leverage in choosing who gets to be PM (and what other "perks" they'll be entitled to) should PTP need to rejoin forces with them at a later date to form a government.

Will be interesting to see how this develops over the next few weeks.

Well it appears gestures to go the PTP way were made,

and accepted, but prior to the red shirts going off the reservation.

This of course causes severe reservations in the old guard players. To have been a full leader, and to have joined with such recent fanfare and to be so repulsed or scared by the reds words

to pull out this soon afterwards, certainly seems to indicate some thing was WAY beyond the pale on the red stage that day.

These old guys don't flit about, it's in or out, but there ARE limits and seems many PTP members have been pushed past theirs.

I wonder how those redshirt on the PTP party list hopes are fairing this coming week....

Chavalit leaves Pheu Thai

Chavalit Yongchaiyudh has resigned as the Chairman of the Pheu Thai Party and party member, it was reported.

Reminiscent of 2006 when all the rats began abandoning the Thai Rak Thai garbage barge.

Chairman of Pheu Thai Party Chavalit resigns April 18.

Chairman of Pheu Thai Party MP's Chalerm resigns March 23.

They're on a roll so...

Let the good times roll.
