News_Editor Posted April 20, 2011 Share Posted April 20, 2011 Chinese student death caught on webcam, suspect arrested 2011-04-21 05:53:28 GMT+7 (ICT) TORONTO, CANADA (BNO NEWS) -- A Chinese university student at a Toronto, Canada school was murdered last week and caught on a webcam, local authorities said Wednesday, as they arrested a suspected killer. Qian Liu, 23, was found dead at her apartment last Friday at around 11 a.m. local time. As she was having a webcam conversation at around 1 a.m. with her boyfriend who lives in Beijing, China, an intruder interrupted the session and later attacked Liu. During the attack, the male intruder turned off the laptop being used by Liu, and the item is now missing. Liu's boyfriend, whose identity has been undisclosed, tried to notify his girlfriend's friends in Toronto through social networking sites, but hours past before someone checked on her. Liu, who moved to Toronto last September to attend York University, was later found dead on the floor of her apartment. Police were promptly notified, and reports indicate that her body was found naked from the waist down. However, after an autopsy was carried out, the cause of her death was stated pending toxicology exams. Toronto Homicide Inspector Edward Boyd during Wednesdays press conference said 29-year-old Brian Dickson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in relation to Liu's death.
