Taliban bomb attack kills 3 policemen in east Afghanistan

JALALABAD, AFGHANISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A bomb explosion in the eastern region of Afghanistan killed three police officers on Thursday and wounded another six, officials said.

The bomb was planted in a vehicle belonging to police in the city of Jalalabad, which is located in the eastern province of Nangarhar, governor spokesperson Ahmad Zia Abdulzal told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Dr. Baz Mohammad Sherzad, Director of Public Health, said the bodies of the three policemen and the six Police Academy trainers who were injured were taken to the Jalalabad Civil Hospital. However, another medical official said an additional two civilians were injured during the explosion, but no further information was available.

The Taliban claimed responsibility of the attack through its spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid.
