KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A roadside bomb in Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar killed five border police guards, while an insurgent attack resulted in the death of a NATO soldier, officials said Friday.

A police vehicle hit the roadside bomb in the Loy Karez area of the Spin Boldak district in Kandahar late Thursday night, border police commander General Abdul Razzaq told Pajhwok Afghan News. The explosion also injured at least one other policeman.

In a separate incident, insurgents attacked and destroyed two International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) tankers in the eastern region of Afghanistan, killing one of its NATO soldiers. No further information was available, as ISAF did not disclose the identity of the soldier.
