Honda Diesel Engined Car In 2012

Honda India is a readying a sub 2.0 liter capacity diesel engine which it plans to introduce in India after its European launch. The small diesel engine will be ready for European models by 2012. The engine in question will be suitably modified for the company’s Indian models. It is likely to be used in the City, Jazz and the upcoming small car. Honda has only one diesel engine in its international lineup due to which it has faced lots of competition from global players. The said engine is a 2.2 liter oilburner which the Japanese automaker uses in the Accord and CR-V.

Speaking of diesels, any chance we will get the fiesta econetic here?

Good question :) I've asked this many times, and the answer is always, yes, so long as Ford are able to acheive good sales results with the Focus TDCi (which they haven't managed so far).

Big problem is the Thais love of Gas + the price....

Go back 2 years or less, almost every Mini bus was Diesel, Now very few are Diesel, there all petrol with NGV/CNG

8.50 baht per lt V 29 something baht.

with the extra money Diesel cars/vans cost you may as well get a petrol + install NGV/CNG many cars vans now are factory fitted NGV/CNG...... Will Diesel cars ever sell in big numbers ? doubt it here

If CNG made decent horsepower and had good range, I'd agree. But it doesn't... Same goes for cars like Camry Hybrid - seems like such a great car for the money... until you drive it.. (not just a total let-down performance-wise, but downright unsafe due to excessive thottle lag IMHO).

There's still a future for diesel powered passenger cars, but they have to reach the level of refinement the PSA Group diesels achieve first (i.e. to the point where you'd never guess it was a diesel).

I guess that is due to it's premium price compared to the competition and, sadly, the ford badge. Hopefully the fiesta will change the view of ford in this country.
