An Idea

Can I run an idea past you guys?

My school has decided to let me be on control of all the student's points for the coming semester. I write and decide the curriculum - officially (following the national outline of course).

So now that I have all these points to give out I am tying to find some good ways of going about it. I don't want to do what my Uni did to me and base my years learning on 1 test. I want to do something more inclusive and progressive.

1 idea: Students have pronuciation cards. Each student has their own card with, say 20 boxes (points). Thoughout the semester students must come and procounce a word or sentence we have been learning for a signature (points). The words or sentences are chosen by me on a certain day. For eg. we are doing a unit on food. I have noticed the word 'juice' is troublesome. So I drill the word, go over it with phonetics (already studied) and give them time to practice. During that lesson (or possibly in their free time) the students must come to me say the word correctly to recieve a signature.

What are your ideas? Have you tried this or something similar before? Did it work?

Do you have any other ideas for giving away points that encourage participation throughout the year?
