Hello everyone,

I just got a new tourist visa (European passport) in Kuala Lumpur with one prior 2 month tourist visa (extended in Thailand for 1 month) in my passport and here's how I did it. All information as of May 2011:

- Booked flight Bangkok - KL and return for 4,000 bath - I used www.skyscanner.net to find the best offers

- Booked a cheap hostel (backpacker style) in Bukit Bintang (central KL): http://www.travellerspalm-kl.com, single room MYR 50 per night (1 MYR = 10 bath)

- Checked opening hours and holidays of the Thai embassy here: http://www.mfa.go.th...chments/634.pdf

- Arrived evening at KL airport, bought a bus ticket in the arrival hall and took the "Star Shuttle" bus which dropped me off at the hostel directly for MYR 18 - http://www.starwira.com

- Went to the Thai embassy (closest subway station is Ampang Park) the next morning (applications only in the morning) with the following documents:

- Waited for 10 minutes, handed in my documents, paid MYR 110 (1,100 bath) visa fee and was told to return the next day at 2.30pm

- Returned next day, took my finished visa, went directly to the subway station Ampang Park, took a train to KL Sentral (main railway station) and there a bus from the lower ground level to KL airport, then flight back to Bangkok

- To summarize: I think you need three days (arrive late day 1, embassy next morning day 2, pick up visa afternoon day 3) and costs are minimum 6,500 bath (flight 4,000, 2 nights hostel 1,000, visa fee 1,100, transportation in KL 400)
