Italian Film Festival to Be Held in Bangkok

Thai moviegoers will have a chance to enjoy all the glamor, passion, drama and artistry of Italian movies as the Italy Embassy in Thailand is set to organize a film festival in Bangkok in June.

The Italian Embassy to Thailand is collaborating with SF Cinema to organize “Moviemov-Italian Film Festival” to strengthen the relationship and exchange cultures between Thailand and Italy.

Famous Thai film directors Ekkachai Euakrongtham, and Adisorn Treesirikasem who directed romantic film entitled “Bangkok Traffic Love Story”, and Chayanop Boonprakob who directed romantic comedy film “Suck Seed”, along with Nonsi Nimitbutr attended the press conference.

Nonsi Nimitbutr is the only Thai film director who was asked to take part in selecting which Italian films would be screened at the festival.

Film director Ekkachai Euakrongtham said this will be good chance for Thai people to watch Italian movies and learn concepts from Italian film directors.

Adisorn Treesirikasem and Chayanop Boonprakob stated that there is so much at the festival for audiences to be excited about and they could learn the history and culture of Italy while watching these films.

At the festival, the talented Thai film director Pen-ek Ratanaruang will be honored with “Best Film Director Award” for his several outstanding pieces.

Two movies, “Ploy” and “Rak Noi Nid Mahasarn” directed by Pen-ek will be screened at the festival.

The festival will be held from June 8 to 12 at SF Cinema at the Emporium Shopping Complex. The event is free of charge.
