Family Or Spouse Visa.

Featured Replies

Could anyone give me some advice on what type of visa to apply to apply for.

I am currently living and working in the UK. My Thai wife is bringing up our 9 month old baby with her family in Thailand.

We met around 2 1/2 years ago and have been married for 8 months.

At the moment I am using annual holiday to visit them 2-3 times a year. Our plan is for my wife and baby to come and visit me in the UK for 5-6 months from around March 2012.

After spending this time in the UK we will have a clearer idea of where our future lies (either Thailand or UK)

I have done a little research and it seems my options are either a family or spouse visa for my wife.

What are the pros and cons of either visa and when should I submit application?

Also any advice on preparing application would be gratefuuly accepted.

Regards Cellardoor.

A family visit visa is for up to a 6 month stay & she must leave at the end of her stay.

Fees are 3900 Baht

A spouse visa is valid for 27 months and she may work etc. Subject to qualifying she can then apply for Indefinite leave to remain (permanent residence).

Fees are 42500 + X-RAY 2600 Baht + English test 7000 Baht .
