Yingluck visited the party on Tuesday to complete her candidacy declaration.

Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit said his party will likely unveil its candidate for the position of prime minister by tomorrow.

Prompong and a large number of Pheu Thai MPs hinted that Thaksin had already finalised his decision to endorse Yingluck for the top job.

Yingluck is expected fill the number one slot in the Phue Thai Party list, followed by former Puea Pandin faction leader Pracha Phromnok.

The top ten candidates in the Phue Thai list would include Chalerm Yoobamrung.

Last one out, switch of the lights.

The dynasty (or should I say din nasty) is preparing itself for supreme power (they hope) along the lines of Marcos, Hussain, Gadhaffi et al. They just have one or two people to remove first. God help Thailand!

The poor and ignorant masses are being duped. If these fascists win there really is no future and Burma will look like a tea party. Perhaps I won't sell my house in France after all.

Beautiful, intelligent and elegant Yingluck Shinawatra, sister of former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra may well become the first woman Prime Minister of Thailand if the rumours within the main opposition party in the Kingdom materialized.

Ah, the other Manolo Blaunik has dropped.

We knew it was coming.

Hard not to look elegant if you have a nearly bottomless expense account for shopping at stores 'your constituents' can only enter for the airconditioning.

Just waiting for Buchholz to post one of his pictures of her on a bad hair day, with a suitable quip, of course.

No need. I would only say that she's 43 and not 40 as was earlier posted. It's also best for members' fantasies purposes if her years-ago photos that have been already been posted in the thread are used. Today's reality might destroy those dreams.

Additionally, it comes as no surprise as Thaksin has been pushing her for months (after she initially refused to join politics). It was all too obvious she would run. I am more curious about the the less obvious Pheu Thai candidates from the clan. Will they be on the Party-list or run as constituency MP's for PTP?

Also, curious that Chalerm after resigning from the Pheu Thai Party a month ago is magically back in as a Pheu Thai Party candidate.

Continuing in the same vein, the other paper this morning is reporting that more of the Shinawatra clan will be running in the election, including :

Former Deputy National Police Chief Police General Priewpan Damapong, brother of Potjaman

and

39c883c4.jpg

Bannaphot Damapong, another brother of Potjaman.

Bannaphot, on the left alongside his sister in July 2008, when the Criminal Court found Potjaman and Bannaphot guilty of intentionally avoiding a tax payment of 546 Million Baht. Also found guilty were Potjaman's personal secretary, Kanchana Honghern, on the right. The court sentenced Potjaman and Bannaphot each to 3 years in prison and Kanchana to 2 years in prison. He's never served his sentence, so not sure how they plan on getting around that little nuance.

Maybe if he gets enough of the ex wifes family in office she might remarry him, for appearances sake.

Yes Yingluk is much more attractive than both Abhisit and Thaksin, but I wouldn't vote on pretty as being a prerequisite for holding office, ability to do the job properly should be the only real criteria.

TOTAL COMPENSATION*

Curiously, Yingluck doesn't seem to be listed as a stockholder in SC Asset, but probably no need as their March 2011 report lists her youngest niece is the #1 stockholder, followed by her other niece at #2, and her sister-in-law at #3. They all have a few shares of the company.

No. 1. Shinawatra’s Family

1.1 Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra (96,090,854 shares)

1.2 Ms. Pintongta Shinawatra (92,990,854 shares)

1.3 Khunying Potjaman Damapong ( 9,253,127 shares)

Incidentally, today it's trading at 12.70 per share with over a 10% jump (on today's news?)
