Working for a U.S. non-profit in Thailand?

And non-profit outfit is not legally registered in Thailand?

And you want to if you can import duty free.... ?

Now that is an interesting idea.... :ermm:

I tried to set up an NGO in Thailand some years back.

All of the advice that I got (professionals in Bangkok) was do not even try it.

It would be expensive, we would be made to jump through many hoops and probably still not get the NGO registered.

It seems that Thailand feels that it does not need them. (It might be a bit easier for Thais to do this - don't know.)

Thanks for the information. We would primarily be working with orphanages throughout Thailand and refugees along the Thai-Burma border. All of the imported items would be strictly donated humanitarian goods, no commercial value. I would imagine that it would not be an easy process, but looking for any information or experience from members.

I would contact some organisation such as MSF and Burmese Border Consortium.

What I understood from a French mdecial foundation is that they still pay duties for the things they bring into Thailand. (Might be different if you are a Thai registered organization.)
