I am told there is a notice on the Immigration Office door in Nathon saying they will be closed tomorrow (Friday)

Can anyone confirm the closing dates please?

My wife says she thinks they will be closed next Tuesday as well for Viskha Bucha Day along with all the bars etc.

Government is closed from 13 till 17 May. They will open again on the 18th.

well that's wonderful news. any chance of them extending their holiday for a few decades?

Only problem with that, is they will still want 500 baht a day for being late ...... for those who live that long !;)

What happened to personal responsibility? Like looking at a calender where its marked as a public holiday.

Why do you have to make things so simple....:D You only have to spend an hour at immigration to realise there are some very challenged people out there.

yes, what happened to personal responsibility? in a country that considers it a national sport to shirk responsibility and lower the bar for moral turpitude, it's a sign of good character that we honor the arrangements that others so casually dismiss. i don't care so much about the 500 baht overstay, if my mom found out i overstayed she'd hit me with a guilt trip so bad i'd happily pay 500 baht to make it go away.

My calendar only shows one day holiday, the 17th as Visakha Buch Day, not three days 13/15/17,that is why I asked.

Today is the royal ploughing ceremony, some calenders do not note that.

Monday is an extra holiday, to create an extra long weekend. If was decided upon after the calenders, diaries etc were printed.

If your permisison to stay expires during a day immigration is closed, it is policy not to fine for overstay provided you apply for an extension the first day they are open again.

(Not sure if Samui follows this rule).

My bad, I have 2 different calenders and they both show Royal Ploughing Day so I assumed they all do.

Reading through this thread I found myself whistling a few lines from 'Hotel California'.

Exactly.

The question was asked and answered immediately, the subsequent comments somewhat unnecessary, but that's TV for you.

No, that was an issue with some people last month... several people arguing about it, but then some were not curtious either... You must be nice, then may get some slack! ;)

My calander was still on April, :o but now that I have May, it only shows the 5th & 17th as red letter days! I sure there will be much confusion with some places being opened and some closed!:D

I am waiting to see if BKK air is responsible.

I blame the constant power cuts or could it be the lack of egg poaching devices on the island?
