Hi All,

I'm trying to find somewhere nice, and fun, to bring a lady (Thai mid 20's) for an evening in Bangkok

It doesn't need to be high end, affluent, or expensive.

If the place serves drinks, so much the better - food purely optional.

Fun is the biggest concern. Not mega late - maybe 8pm till midnight sort of thing.

Many thanks in advance.

There are several nice bowling alleys in Bangkok. Check out the one at Siam Paragon or Central World online and see what you think.

Why not try the Ice Skating rink in Siam Discovery then find somewhere around Siam Square for a nice drink or two, the shops around there will be exciting for her, maybe not for you.

By accident on purpose take her to Nana Plaza. Have a quick drink then go.Then tell her how lucky she is to have met you and not ending up in a place like that! Shopping Malls are a great place to go in the evenings.Airconditioned great places to eat for you and her and maybe even take a film in.Even if you have to watch it in Thai...Buy her a camera while you are thete to remember the day..

Lively Bars

Hi all,

Believe it or not, she said she'd like to go to a lively, fun bar (I had Tilac or Long gun in mind, but I doubt that's what she means - LOL).

What’s Q-bar like mid-week, in general? I read it opens at 8pm – but I presume at that time it is dead? Is there anywhere similar that opens early and attracts a decent crowd at 8-9pm. I want to go somewhere fun and lively, early in the night.

State Tower (Labua) - its been a long time since I was there..... how pricey is it?

I'm getting short on ideas here guys..... but your input has all been much appreciated.

Thanks

I am not the bar kind of person, but I went to the Mexican restaurant down from Sala Daeng station, and the ladyboys in there were so entertaining, my wife and my friend had a great night out being entertained by them singing and dancing, and the food was okay too.

Try the Beer Garden in Sathorn area on

Nara Thiwat Rajanagarindra Rd, Sathorn

Live entertainment, good food and drink.

Go to the "Chong Nonsi BTS" Station which connects to the BRT system and then take BRT south (Yellow Bus). BRT has a station that stops right there. Ask at the counter it's about 4 stops (but not sure). Afterwards take a taxi or tuk-tuk back .

I reckon Tawandeang is just about the perfect date place...they love the music and the food is excellent, the beer is pretty good to my tastes, loud enough so that you dont have to engage in conversation all night and every Thai lady I've been there with has had a great time clapping along to the music with a big sh@t eating grin on their face and I dont have a big enough ego to think that its all to do with the company they are keeping....

River dinner cruise, drinks at one of the many bars/restaurant on the river.

An art flick at House Cinema, go-cart at the indoor track below, stroll along the street outside, many Thai bars/clubs.

Buy an expensive box of chocolate in one of those specialties shops at Siam Paragon, go up and eat it in the Imax, sneak in a bottle of champagne.

Hump it down to Ad 13 on Soi Samsen near Khao San Rd, and go all bluesy, show her you can play it cool and hip as well. Join the band for a set if you have some skills.

Go see a play. Check out listings in one of those freebie BK rags.

Walk Chachuchak after 6pm, lots of interesting young people trying to make a baht selling knick knacks.

Have a romantic Italian dinner and talk into the wee hours, looking deep into her eyes, and asking a thousand brilliant questions.

Whatever you do, make her laugh :)

Good luck!

try the nest top floor of the la fenix hotel opposite Q bar nice up there view of the city etc.. plus tonight there is some live music.... stay for a while few drinks etc then go across the road to Q bar around 10ish.. play your cards right you could be back for coffee before midnight wink.gif

The Nest at Le Fenix at the end of Suk Soi 11 is a nice mid-evening sit-down spot for drinking and entertaining a lady... It's a chill out kind of place.

They have happy hour specials during those hours....making the prices a bit more reasonable... The food is also good.

The tables outside under the stars are nice as is the general atmosphere, provided the weather is nice for the evening...

But, being an outdoors places, you'll be sitting at your own separate table usually with a fair amount of space around... it's not the place where you're rubbing elbows with the party/table next to you... So it has a different vibe.

Bangkok Beat on Suk Soi 7-1 is an indoors club/bar place... no cover...good live band music...reasonable drink prices... And it gets busy not by 8 pm, but certainly by 10 or so, and then stays open until after midnight. Not so much a food place, but fun and good for dancing and some activity. Does have some working girl-tourist element as might be expected in the area.

Do you actually think all young Thai women can be divided between those who wind up in "a place like that" and those who have a Farang date (and thus somehow are no longer in danger of winding up a go-go dancer -- but they were before)?

Wow, how fortunate they are to have us in this country! Too bad there aren't more of us to save them all...

PS:

Most of the Thai women I know would immediately get up and leave -- maybe making a well-deserved causitic comment as they did -- if some guy said that to them.

Saxophone Club at Victory Monument ... good Jazz, reasonable food, and real diverse crowd.

I don't like Jazz, but had a great time at Saxophone, great atmosphere and the band made a big effort to entertain.
