I went to the Khet Wattana Immigration office to extend my Visa by marriage this past March 27th, 2011. I went back on April 21, to get the Year Stamp after they checked all the paperwork. After receiving my Visa Extension Stamp I got in line to get a Multiple Entry Re-Entry Stamp. Got it right before the agents went to lunch. I didn't bother to look at the stamp and walked out.

Today I was consulting an attorney regarding some Visa questions and I noticed the dates on my Re-Entry stamp.

Place of Issue: Bangkok Date: April 21, 2011 (Both of these stamps are in Black)

But in two different area's of the Stamp it reads:

Lenght of Stay: 27 MAR 2011 (In Red)

Valid Until: 27 MAR 2011 (In Red)

They obviously just hadn't adjusted the year part of the stamp correctly. I asked my attorney about it and at first they said 2012. Then they looked closely at the stamp and verified that it said 2011. They advised that I go back and get it changed if I am planning on leaving the country before I change my Visa.

Just wondering if anyone else had this happen? Again it is a One Year Multiple Entry RE-Entry Stamp issued at Khet Wattana on April 21, 2011.

You might want to check your Re-Entry Visa's.

Yes, it is a good practice to check the dates on a new entry made in the passport before leaving the immigration office.

The same type of thing happened to me at a different office, Pathum Thani. They shorted me a month on my reentry permit allowing me 11 months instead of a full year. I caught it before I left the office but NO amount of persuading was going to get them to change. I was nice and kind and friendly and had a big grin to no avail. They kept insisting that Swampy immigration had incorrectly stamped me in and that I would have to take it up with Swampy. Neither of these offices are that close to me. Indeed, Swampy had it correct so I had no beef there.

I guess if I had wanted to pursue it there are ways to correct it but it was going to take probably more than one trip to who knows where, probably BKK, and several hundred baht and I have decided not to do that. I'll just get my next extension of stay and reentry permit a little early.

I am confident that they will screw that up too. That office is amoung many that is a piece of crap.

They were correct.

Officially only the immigration station/officer who made the mistake can undo his mistake. ( In case of date mistakes on the entry stamps etc )

For this reason they send you back to Swampy.

Sometimes other immigration offices will undo a entry date mistake in combination with a extension.

( for example when you stamped 30 days instead of 60 days on a TR60 at entry, in this case it is sometimes possible to buy a 60 days extension instead of the 30 days extension )

But this solution is not guaranteed and they don’t have to do this.

An airport mistake should be corrected at Chiang Watanna. They have a dedicated desk for such activity.

Correct.

Earlier this year when coming back from O/S, I was confused about the dates - mainly due to changing to a new passport mid-year.

The airport staff told me I needed to go to Chang Wattana if I needed further explanation.

They were very helpful and took the time to explain why the dates were used.

Now I know better.

You have all the skills that it takes to work at one of the Immi Offices. Dood, did you read my post at all? Swampy had it correct. The office in Pathum Thani screwed it up but would not change what they had done. Going back out to the airport would be a complete waste.

Pretty much like trying to explain it to you
