Lost Uk Passport

Featured Replies

My UK passport has disappeared. I will be going to the UK in 6 weeks time ad have a new Thai retirement visa dated 1 June. Plu multiple entry.

Can someone please advise.

That should be enough time to obtain a new passport from Hong Kong and enter the extension of stay in it (believe that is what you have) and a re-entry permit. First step is always a police report.

If you are actually talking about a Consulate issued visa it is gone unless you can convince the Consulate to re-issue for you. In that case an Emergency travel document from Embassy might be all you need and obtain new passport while in UK.

Question: If he has a copy of his passport and visa (issued by a consulate, not an extension of stay), is it still gone? My question is whether immigration can check back if they have the visa number and issuing consultate.

In addition, the visa details might be recorded in the computer upon entering the country, but I don't know whether it is. They keep upgrading their computer system.

Only a valid visa in an expired passport would still be valid for a new entry. Immigration can not resurrect a Consulate visa. The current permitted to stay can be entered into a new passport from computer records.

What is the procedure (for Brits) to apply for a new passport from Hong Kong, please indicate the details if possible, Thanks.

Yes, the visa is still gone.

Check your Embassy web site. http://ukinthailand.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/

Given that your visa is gone, I think that your best course of action would be to apply for an Emergency Travel Document from the BKK Embassy and apply for a new passport in the UK (as advised by lopburi3 in post #2). In any event, applying for a new passport from Hong Kong is fraught with delay and hassle if other TV postings are to be believed.
