Any suggestions what would be the most economical way to get from HKG to BKK - flying on either Dec 28 or 29?

Orienthai are cheap, or go to Macau and catch Air Asia but a bit out of the way.

For the 29th, Ethiopian Air is about USD $130 (flight 609) and Emirates is about USD $163 (flight 385) o/w including taxes

I think Ethiopian Air only issues paper tickets, however.

I just checked AirAsia for Macua - bkk , get this message:

Sorry. There are no available flights going out between

Wed, 28/Dec/2005 and Fri, 30/Dec/2005.

But website also says they got 2 flights a day for all December for Macau.

Xiamen might be the deal though, but dates could be a problem. These dates I could find available:

T FARE Guest RMB608.00

Mon, 26/Dec/2005

Flight FD3687 20:35 Depart Xiamen (XMN)

22:50 Arrive Bangkok (BKK)

T FARE Guest RMB608.00

Sat, 31/Dec/2005

Flight FD3686 15:40 Depart Bangkok (BKK)

20:00 Arrive Xiamen (XMN)

That's about £43 e/w, but dates aren't so great! NYE in Xiamen or Bangkok, you choose :o

Maybe have to go via HK.
