13 injured in Afghanistan road accident

2011-06-07 23:58:43 GMT+7 (ICT)

KABUL (BNO NEWS) -- Thirteen people were injured on Tuesday in an accident in the Afghan capital of Kabul, Pajhwok Afghan News reported.

A passenger bus flipped over while trying to overtake a car in the Deh Mazang area, injuring 13 people, including three women. Six of the injured were taken to the hospital with cracked bones, while five are in critical condition.

"A new car, in a race with the passenger bus, blocked its way. As a result, the speeding bus veered off the road and flipped over," witness Hafizullah said, adding that one passenger was killed.

Dr. Asadullah Safi told Pajhwok Afghan News, however, that he had no information regarding the death of any passenger.

A traffic officer said on condition of anonymity that they were trying to arrest the car driver.
