For those out there that are from the UK and want to get a Pension forecast here is the application form.

It can be used to find out how much you have to pay extra to get your UK pension.

Here is the address of where to send it:

State Pension Forecasting Team

The Pension Service

Tyneview Park

Whitley Road

Newcastle upon Tyne

NE98 1BA

United Kingdom

You can ring the State Pension Forecasting Team on 0845 3000 168 (or if you live outside the UK +44 191 218 3600) and they will take your application over the phone.

If you are calling from the UK, lines are open from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm Monday to Friday and 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturday. If you are calling from abroad, lines are open from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.

Just received mine, downloaded the forms and sent it by snail mail. Got the forecast back after about three weeks. However the paperwork indicated I should ring them, which I did, big mistake, the number is a premium rate number and on the two occasions I rang I spent 20 mins listening to canned music before getting through, only to be told to ring back later in the year nearer the date my pension is due. Rule Britannia!

Aside from phoning useful info nonetheless.

Used to be that you could only do it online if you live in UK and if overseas you have to write to them.

Has that changed now?

No it hasn't changed, if you live overseas you need to call or write.

To enroll in the Government Gateway you also have to have a UK address.

As Beano said you can call them on the non-premium number "You can ring the State Pension Forecasting Team on 0845 3000 168 (or if you live outside the UK +44 191 218 3600) and they will take your application over the phone".

I did this, was on the phone for a few minutes to the very helpful lass, and received my forecast a couple of weeks after.

Once you have your government gateway user ID and password you can access the site from anywhere. I just did mine, (about 2 minutes ago in Bangkok), and I'm pleased to say I still have a full pension. It does show that I will retire at 65, whereas on another site it says that will be when I am 66. We'll just wait and see.

Yes, but to sign up to the Gateway they say you need a UK address they can send your log in details to. Am I write in assuming that you did this, but can now access from anywhere via tinternet.

I registered with Gateway online in Thailand using my address in the UK.

I will receive a pension pack around Feb 2012 for my pension due at 65 in June 2012.

This site I have found more useful.

My Thai wife will receive her UK pension when she is 66.
