Bar Closures During The Upcoming Election

Featured Replies

A couple of my friends are arriving in Pattaya for a couple of weeks around the time the upcoming

Thai elections are being held.

Has there been any "official" notice issued about when the bars will be closed and for how long?

I was in Bangkok a few years ago during an election and everything was closed for two days....

couldn't even buy a beer in a restaurant.

thanks

Election date is 3 july so it will most sureely closed from 2 july 6 AM till 3 july midnight. The week-end before it will have the same scenario as they have the early voting that weekend. Not to forget 15/16 July also for a budha day.

I believe this to be correct. Welcome to 'Amazing Thailand'!

There will be bar closures but it will be no problem at all to find open bars in Pattaya. Many just turn out the lights and turn down/off the music, even sadly on Buddhas and HMTK's birthday.

Those are the days where you get to see just who and what is loved/respected.

no matter where you are in Thailand , somewhere is ALWAYS open .....
