Postal Service In Phuket

Is it only our address which is affected or what’s going on with the Postal service in Phuket these days?

Last 1 1/2 year. Letters, parcels, magazines sent from abrade to our address in Phuket not received at all or arriving up to two months after posted abroad. Magazine subscriptions from USA which both my wife and I previously always received on time come 4-8 weeks delayed or not at all. Parcels and letters sent out of Phuket to Europe and USA never reach the recipient.

I have used the postal system here for more than a decade and until a couple of years ago never experienced any significant problems so it is no comfort to hear that it is to expect in a developing country. The postal system was good and if what’s going on now is the way forward then it’s going rapidly downhill.

We are located just behind Samkong and the Landlord has been in Phuket for generations so the address should be well known. The post is handled by Phuket main post office.

I subscribe to a weekly magazine from the UK. For the last 3 weeks nothing. One arrived yesterday. But where were the 2 issues before it? The service is sporadic or non-existent. I work for a large company so it is not a remote postal drop. When I lasted visited the quaint depot in town people were nice and helpful although the system looked antiquated and topsy turvy. What do we do? Ask to see the Postal Manager?

A while ago I was asking about the postal service, having sent some koalas to my son's gf. Ended up that the postal officer had tried three times to deliver the parcel when noone was home. They gave up and kept the parcel in Rawai. The address was in Chalong, but post office boundaries don't necessarily follow logic or other boundaries.

Cost him 7baht. Lousy boy didn't even tip!!!! Many months after the original parcel was dispatched, the lovely gf ended up with 30 koalas, all of which she was going to put in her car, I might add. She's already a breathtaking driver...

Afraid not much but if its parcels and letter of a certain value sent abroad I would recommend taking the receipts to the post office. Usually they will at least promise an investigation and to contact the necessary offices involved.

I have a magazine subscription from Singapore.

In ten years, never missed, never late,

But then I think that Rawai PO seems to have their crap to together better than most.

Certainly compared to Kata - Karon.

That’s also the way it used to be at our location. Nowadays we hope for good luck when we expect post.

Somebody in the Post Office must read this. Since posting the other day about my missing MAGS from UK I have had a magazine a day. That is three magazines [ 2 dated in May and one in June ] delivered to me in ONE week. That is a new take on 3-in-1. Will I have to wait another 3 weeks for the next 3?

Its the same here. Last time we got a heap with post was early June most of it was posted in Europe end March and a few magazines sent from the US early April. Magazines, okay as long as we get it. However two official letters with important info was to no use more than two monts after they was posted in Europe.

  • 4 months later...

Again and this time please tell me that this is because of the flooding in Bangkok and not because of a :sleepy: post office.

Well I miss a parcel from Europe and one from USA so be it if it’s delayed or lost because of the flooding nothing we can do with that. However even the telephone bill from TOT (issued 17. October)come first today, i.e. four days after due date! Anyone else experienced that even National post is delayed?

Thanks

I have the same 3BB was on time, but TOT arrived yesterday, due date 10 November.

Just talked to TOT, according to them one can still pay at 7/11, no need to go to TOT shop.

Never have had problems receiving letters/postcards/boxes sent from overseas while living in rawai/chalong. the people sending the stuff had my address in both english and thai though

back in karon the story was different, did not receive a few letters there

Went to the main post office in Phuket again today and was more lucky with the person I talked with :) and the explanation I got for delayed /missed parcels from abroad was as expected the flooding and that the head office at Laksi was weeks after schedule. I can live with that.

The post officer however could not answer why normal mail from Bangkok to Phuket was delayed! The answers is probably something in the way of staff shortage in different companies due to problems getting to work and/or had to take leave for help out with the flooding.

It was in the news last week that mail/parcels would be delayed about five days so as an afterthought there are probably nothing wrong in multiple that with at least 2

I only hope my health and accident policy show up soon because it expires today and to come with an insurance card which is expired at a hospital here can be troublesome.

It's always best to make yourself know to your local postman, make sure he really knows your postal address. When mail starts going missing then it's usually because their is a new postman on the route.

None of our TT&T phone bills arrived last month. I know bills must be paid by the 10th of the next month so I waited until yesterday (14th) and just paid at the phone office with just writing down the line numbers. Naturally the bills turned up later that day, and that's for different postal addresses in Patong and Kata, so I assume the Bangkok flooding is delaying postal service. Funny enough the TOT and 3BB bills arrived without delay.

my creditcard invoice from Krungsri ayudhya always arrives before due

Mine from SCB takes about 12 days to arrive in the post from Bangkok

You are supposed to notify any discrepancies within 10 days

Impossible to do if you cannot check the statement

The bank always blames the post office but i think its the bank

Until today did not receive my monthly UBC/True Magazine here in Patong. It's 15th already!

That's was fairly typical with them. Another reason I'm really happy I canceled their service... Funny they never came to pick up their box or dish either.

Just got all my bills in one bunch. Phone, internet and Ubc.

This has never happened before,ever.

Normally coming seperately throughout the month individually or just not show up for 2 months.

Has the postal service gotten efficient all of a sudden?
