Florida sex offender who bragged about child's sex abuse sentenced to 40 years

MIAMI (BNO NEWS) -- An elderly sex offender who was previously convicted of sexually abusing his young daughter has now been sentenced to 40 years in prison after he bragged about it online and attempted to entice a child to engage in sexual activity, U.S. prosecutors said on Friday.

Allen, 68, of West Palm Beach, was previously arrested and convicted after a conversation he had with an undercover police officer who was pretending to be the father of an eight-year-old girl. The middle and last name of Allen have been redacted from this report to protect the identity of his daughter.

According to testimony at trial, Allen entered an internet chat room named "daughteranddaughtersex" and engaged in a chat with who he believed to be the father of an eight-year-old girl.

During the online conversations with the purported father, Allen bragged about having repeatedly molested his own daughter throughout her childhood. Allen later requested that the purported father put his eight-year-old daughter on a webcam.

Following this request, another undercover officer appeared in front of the webcam, making Allen believe she was Allen's eight-year-old daughter. Allen then masturbated in front of his webcam and asked the father and child to engage in sexual activity as well.

Allen's computers were soon after seized and were found to contain child pornography, both real child pornography and virtual child pornography in which images are created or modified to make it appear as if children are engaged in sexual activity.

Allen was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Thursday for using a computer to attempt to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, and committing the enticement while being required by law to register as a sexual offender.

Perhaps you missed this part of the opening post...

"An elderly sex offender who was previously convicted of sexually abusing his young daughter has now been sentenced to 40 years in prison"

The previous conviction of sexually abusing his daughter might have had some bearing on the 40 year sentence.

It doesn't matter what he was caught for before, the case at hand gave him 40 years.

And it is just ludicrous.

Prior convictions can be taken into consideration during the sentencing phase. It seems the judge did exactly that.

I'm not sure about the visual aspect but the voice could have been disguised easily.

You would be surprised at what devices are available to perverts

these days. I just learnt about this from watching an episode of Law and Order SVU.

Assuming he was punished for his previous bad behavior, He was sentenced to 40 years in prison for talking and wanking. Imposed by self important, self righteous fascists. Ridiculous indeed. If appealed it will be overturned.

The issue here is not that he bragged about abusing his daughter in the past, but that he encouraged a young girl and her father to engage in sex acts. So he was promoting/encouraging new child sex abuse. ( I say young girl and father because that's what the guy thought).

I don't know though how they convinced him the undercover officer was an 8yo girl. I guess she looks really young (like on NBC's To Catch A Predator) and that they only showed a part of her body?

Yes, it is.

Then I suppose the Casey Anthony acquittal made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Is that a correct assumption?

I must therefore further assume you would have had no problem with giving the convicted pedophile a suspended sentence and let him loose on the children again. Is that also a safe assumption?

How about the Mexican national, Humberto Leal, that was executed last week in Texas for raping and murdering that 16 year old girl. Should he have been given a box lunch and sent home instead of facing the death penalty he, in my humble opinion, so richly deserved?

There are many bad people out there. Most of them have earned every bit of jail time they are given. This pedophile is no different.

Perhaps the justice system in your country would have let him go free. Florida chose to protect their citizens, not put them and their children in further danger.

Explanation: he guy sat in front of a computer and accepted the proposals of LEO. He didn't do anything "for real".

I think that in those cases, the LEOs should make the offender go the last mile, i.e. until taking the minor to a room and proceeding to sexual stuff.

I guess many potential offenders back off from their plans without ever committing the crime. I don't know how high that figure is though.

And the part about "while being required to register as a sex offender" is a laugh.

It is the LEAs' job to keep track of the sickos and not up to the sickos to "register".

Makes one wonder if the guilty person had not been surfing for child porn, would he have been caught in a so-callerd entrapment scheme.

One thing I never worry about is being entrapped if I am watching Yahoo sports or the Drudge Report.

Thank you for your well wishes. Since I do not surf kiddie porn and have never sexually abused a child, I am not too worried about getting anything.

This is how I feel about the 40 year sentence. :clap2:
