October 23, 200520 yr Excuse my ignorance, but can someone please explain what the extra charge is on a flight ticket when the price of gas between airports is mentioned?
October 23, 200520 yr are you meaning the fuel surcharge that has suddenly appeared on all tickets in the last couple of years? It is meant to be something to do with the rising oil costs caused by the likes of the Iraq war!! Don't know if that is the real reason but hey maybe we can assume that IF things ever settle down they will remove the charge? I think it is a vain attempt on the part of airlines to show that that the massively increasing air fare prices are nothing to do with them and a lot to do with massive increases in fuel and tax costs!!!

I haven't traveled by plane in the last 3 years, so I thought that it was a bit of a scam when the travel agent suddenly changed her mind about the price of the ticket when she heard that I was farang. Jumped up by almost 7000 baht extra on the quoted price. Edited October 24, 200520 yr by kurtdhis
