English Language Test For Uk Settlement Visa

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I would like to know if my wife would need to take an English test before we apply for a settlement visa to th UK.Her English is not the best but understandable and i would like some info on it as to what the test would involve and the price of it.I am in the uk at the moment and my wife is in Thailand and have known each other over 5 years now.We have a 5 month old daughter together and i think it would be good for her and our daughter to come and live in the uk together. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Hi,

My wife did the BULATS test a few months ago. There are now only three tests on the list of approved providers in Thailand. Cost when she did it was 5600baht but I believe its now round 6500baht. My wifes experience and an explanation of whats involved in the test is covered in this post from my settlement blog:-

Theres also a post about the TB requirement which she did a couple of weeks ago.

Regards

4 students - THB 12,500

sounds expensive. what is her english language ability? it is a shame you are not with her - then you could go through the 'you tube' video and see how she does. my wife found the pre test (prep test ) useful - she learned some new words that came up in the test - like ''relatives'' for example. the pre test was only 1 hour.
