M one year multi-entry ED visa expires in August. However, I have not used this visa since I obtained my one-year immigration permit so I have been reporting every 90 days without having to drop by the border to re-stamp passport.

This immigration permit (on student basis) expires in November. I just reported 90 days so in theory need to report again by end of October. I will get another student status letter and I imagine would have no problem in getting another year immigration permit to stay.

Two main questions:

1) If the new date for 90 days report is end of October and my 1-year-permit expires end of November.

1.1) What happens in November?

1.2) Do I report 90 days by end of October and must get a new 1 –year-permit before the date my present permit expires (end of November)?

1.3) Do I get 90 days so have until end of January for new 1-yer-permit?

2) My actual visa my MFA expires in August.

Do I need a new visa? At the end of the day I do not use it and if I have to leave I just get the re-enry permit by immigration since re-entering without such permit and using my multi-entry visa would just invalidate my 1-year-permit and put me back to 90 days border visits.

This means that next year I will be in Thailand with permit to stay but with not actual visa.

Any comments welcome

Thank you

Javier

You do not need a visa if you are on extensions of stay.

1.1 You visit immigration with school paperwork to apply for a new one year extension of stay for attending school. Normal (TM.7) form and 1,900 baht fee.

1.2 Yes and yes (as answered above).

1.3 You will continue to report address (TM.47) 90 days from last report until you exit/return to Thailand (day of return will be day one of new 90 day period).

2. No you do not need a new visa - a visa is only used for entry into Thailand - once here you are on a permitted to stay stamp/extension of that stamp.
