Emea Versions Of Windows 7 In Thailand

Featured Replies

I have a netbook on which I'd like to install Windows 7. I have a copy of Windows 7 educational edition. The DVD is marked 'Not for use or distribution outside of Europe, the Middle East or Africa'. If I install this on my netbook and take the netbook to Thailand on holiday am I likely to face any problems? I don't mean moral or ethical problems - just technical ones.

Not for use or distribution outside of Europe, the Middle East or Africa

What that means is you cannot 'activate' that particular copy outside those regions. Go ahead and install it; just make sure you activate before taking it with you on holiday.

Cheers. I'll give it a go.

My wifes daughter, nearly two years ago now, brought back from the UK a genuine copy of Win7 Ultimate (for me) and the 'Student' Upgrade Win7 Ultimate (for her).

She also brought back two copies of Office Enterprise 2007...she somehow managed to get two student copies! I didn't have any problem putting either of the programs on both of our computers here in Thailand. The only thing that I can't remember is which WIN7 CD I used on her computer. The student Upgrade or the Full Copy. Although I did use the Product Key which came with each. The discs said the same as on yours..not for use etc.

When I bought them I didn't realise about the 'not for use etc'. I didn't use ExPatShield to activate either.

How did she manage to get 2 student copies? I've got another laptop running XP that needs upgrading. I must try and get another copy myself

They're doing Office 2010 Pro for £38 at the moment.

Installed W7 Pro on my netbook and it's whizzing along quite nicely.

How did she manage to get 2 student copies?

Office Enterprise....two different suppliers...bought one from each........obviously no check.

The Win7 Ultimate (full copy)...I bought from PC World and she just brought the disc back.

Looks dodgy to me.
