Don't forget that coming Friday is her Majesty's the Queens Birthday, a national Holiday. All government offices will be closed on Friday, that includes Immigration. Thai embassies and cconsulates might also be closed.

Suspect comming Thursday and Monday will be very bussy. So remember, going early for an extension of stay doesn't mean that you will lose any days, the extension will start when your current permission to stay ends. If your permisison to stay ends on a day immigraiton is closed, you will not be charged overstay, provided you visit immigration the first day they are open again. Which will of course be bussy.

Immigration always allows to extend up to 30 days early and prefers you do it in something like 3 to 2 weeks before.

Exclude Phuket from that statement. If you turn up at immigration with 3 weeks left, they tell you to come back nearer the time.

Re embassies/consulates; expect they will all be closed this Friday - checked on KL and Phnom Penh

KL embassy website lists the following closures for August

August 12 Friday Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday

and also for the Malaysian holidays:

August 30 Tuesday Hari Raya Puasa M* (subject to change)

August 31 Wednesday Malaysian National Day (MERDEKA)

Thai embassies should be closed, as will general consulates. But honorary consulates might be open as usual.

Foreign embassies in Thailand should also be closed in honor of Her Majesty's birthday.
