Health Insurance

Featured Replies

I will be returning to Thailand shortly. Can anybody please give me any advice or leads to a reliable, reasonably priced health scheme.

Peter at ThaiVisa insurance has been helping me set up one that looks good with ACS Asia. Of course with any plan only time will tell if they are any good and will pay out OK. But anyway, Peter helped me out so give him a try.

There have been a few posts on this topic and it seems to boil down to 'you get what you pay for'.

If you have any pre-existing conditions and do not declare them, rest assured that if you make a claim your Insurer will find out and use this as a reason for the policy to be invalid.

At the end of the day, you need to read and understand the policy you are considering - what is covered, what is not covered and how much will be paid in the event of a claim

Edit - ALL Insurers are determined to minimise the amount paid-out, but some are worse than others in this respect..... In my experience (even with good, but expensive health insurers) it depends on how long you have been insured with them, if its only been a short time they will be actively looking for a reason not to pay.

Good points, I declared a pre existing condition and they came back and charged me the regular premium on the understanding I cannot claim for anything regarding my condition, fair enough really. Honesty is the best policy, you have to hope they will be as honest when you come to claim......

Agree, honesty is the only way to go with health insurers.

It only becomes a problem when you have a pre-existing condition that could possibly be v expensive in the future.

I would suggest you looking into a insurance broker because they work with many insurance companies and they are able to get the right plan for the best price for you. I went through Pacific prime but I have friends (expats) who went through Globalsurance. My main concern was dental insurance because I have a history of bad teeth no matter how many times I brush I end up with cavities and in need of a root canal. BR

Actually, if you look at the fine print on the Globalsurance page you will see that all insurance is provide by Pacific Prime anyway. :o
