Nuvi 2575

Featured Replies

Hi,

From what I have read there seems to be some problems with the new Nuvi 3770, so I have been looking at alternatives.

I came across the Nuvi 2575 but I haven't been able to find any reports on it in this forum.

Has anybody got one or know somebody with one? I like the voice activation feature and rear camera option plus 5" screen compared to the smaller 3770. It doesn't have the receiver for traffic information but it is 'traffic ready.'

It also has some other useful features as well.

Love to hear any reports

Cheers

Jack

I just bought one for the wife's Jazz .

Will get it tmrw or the day after, price was 12k Baht. (I didn't bought the driving recorder that was an extra 4500 Baht)

I will give you my findings and experiences in the next couple of days, weeks.

Just a quick question. Why would anybody want to watch TV while driving?

Purchased a Garmin Nuvi 2575.... also the driving camera as an extra.

I have never considered myself to be overly "up with it" when it comes to today's technology..but this has got me stumped.

Trying to load in coordinates ( as streets are not yet listed ) is a pain...in my case thus far impossible.

The different formats; in fact all 3 available formats will not accept the normal Longitude or Latitude numbers given on Google Maps.

The only way I have found it so very useful in finding places... it to go there first, then mark it as where you are...and save. ( Duhhhh )

Appealing to those who are in the know ( and yes I have read where you just punch in the numbers and save ) I wish !!!

Please help if you can... step by step.

Google Maps uses the decimal format, just set your Garmin 2575 coordinates to [ h ddd.dddddo ]and you should be good to go. The hemisphere (N,E) gets entered first, then the decimal numbers. Example, N 13.73999o and E 100.56001o.

Yes and I have to keep my eyes on the road at all times.

Sorry for not answering sooner...lost my way back into here... I shall try that new format sequence... thanks a million

The new Format works a treat....thanks again Interested Observer...

Wanting to NOT over tax my welcome... one more question if I may:

Cannot find the Voice Activation set up....I had down loaded and printed out the 24 page (English version) booklet...but these step by step questions are not written about

Did I mention I was not real flash with technology. ?

Thanks in advance

Voice Command is activated through the ASR icon, usually in the Main Menu.

I've never used a GPS navigator that accepted the numeric coordinates as a destination. In Google Maps, I would just type ddd.mmmmmm, eg 13.698988,100.487609. Would this also work on the Garmin 2575, ie without hemisphere abbreviation (N,E) and without the degree symbol (°)?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Garmin nuvis default to N, S, E, W for the hemisphere designator in all three formats. The degree (o) symbol is preset where needed..

With Google Maps you also need the hemisphere designator for the latitude and longitude; a plus sign (+) for N longitude and E latitude, a minus sign (-) for S longitude and W latitude. Example -22.903539,-43.209587 for Rio de Janeiro or +13.723419,+100.476232 for Bangkok or -33.868901,+151.207091 for Sydney.

Is the camera a separate device that you connect to the Nuvi with a cable?

I was hoping to find a PDF file of the owner's manual of the Nuvi 2575 on garmin.com but it is not there. Does anybody have a link to this manual? I prefer to study the manual before buying a gadget of this type.

Yes, it is and it costs an additional 3-4k THB

The only difference with the Thai Sold version (ESRI) is that the Thai version doesn't have a compass, so you can skip that part of the manual.

I have a nuvi 1300T, and it is good except I haven't figured out how to find sub sois by typing them in. It is good for finding main street locations.

This is a topic for people with experiences or questions about the Nuvi 2575, I think it's better that you open a separate topic for the Nuvi 1300T

Thank you very much, MJCM. I have saved the manual on my computer for future reference. Still have to make up my mind what I want to buy when I get to Bangkok early next year.
