I am in an 'in-between' work situation, because I have just sold my Phuket hotel, (where I was employed as the manager), and will not start working again as a hotel manager until I build a new hotel - this will take me about 6-9 months.

In the meantime, I want to use some of my spare time to learn/improve my spoken Mandarin and Russian, because experience from my last hotel shows an increasing number of visiting tourists from these 2 countries, and a huge lack of English language skills on their part!

I'm happy with getting a 90 day ED visa, renewable out of country.

Can anyone advise me as to the number of hours per week that I will need to study in order to qualify for a 90 day ED visa? I will be unable to commit full-time to study since I must keep an eagle eye on my hotel construction workers who may try to cut corners if I am not on-site... I could manage 1 full day each week for study.

The Ed-visa only requires you to show paperwork form an educational institution that you have signed up with them.

If you want 90 day extensions of stay you will need papeprork from the school showing that you at least study 4 hours a week.
