Crime Socialite Arrested at Home with Cache of Guns & Cocaine
Picture courtesy of Daily News. Notorious Thai socialite Thanat Thanakitamnuay, better known as “Hi-So Luke Nat”, has been arrested at his upscale Bangkok residence after police discovered more than 20 firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and a large quantity of cocaine, following a shocking complaint that he had assaulted a woman and forced her to take drugs at gunpoint. The operation was led by senior Metropolitan Police Bureau officers, including Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom and his deputies overseeing narcotics and investigation units. Armed with two search warrants issued by the Phra Khanong Criminal Court on 5 August, officers from the Division of Suppression of Crimes Against Children and Women (DSCCW), along with Arintharat special operations forces, raided two properties in the exclusive Noble Cube housing estate on Phatthanakan Road, Suan Luang District. At house no. 1104/351, police seized: • Multiple semi-automatic handguns, including 9mm pistols and .380 ACP • Shotguns and high-powered rifles • Over 1,800 rounds of mixed ammunition • Numerous magazines and tactical gear • One SMG (submachine gun), firearm replicas and tasers • Drug paraphernalia and a bag of cocaine At a second property (no. 1104/342), more weapons were found, including: • A Colt 1911 (.45 calibre), a SIG P226 (9mm), a Colt Python (.357 revolver), and a Beretta 692 double-barrel shotgun • A Vortex rifle scope and further rounds of ammunition in multiple calibres and shotgun shells The arrest followed a detailed complaint by a female victim, Ms B (name withheld), who reported to DSCCW that she had been invited to a party at Thanat’s residence. According to her statement, Thanat was allegedly under the influence of narcotics and became aggressive. She claims he used a firearm to threaten and force her to take drugs, and when she refused, he hit her on the head with the weapon. Fearing for her life, she eventually complied. Later, while Thanat was passed out from suspected drug use, she managed to photograph evidence and escape from the property. She then reported the incident to authorities, who launched the search and arrest operation. At the time of arrest, Thanat appeared intoxicated but coherent and even assisted officers during the search. He has been charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and possession of a Category 2 narcotic (cocaine). He has been transferred to Khlong Tan Police Station for formal investigation. Residents in the gated community reported that disturbances were common at the property, including frequent shouting and women seen crying outside the house. Police now urge any additional victims who may have suffered similar abuse to come forward and file complaints either at the DSCCW or Khlong Tan Police Station. The case has sent shockwaves across Thai high society, where Thanat is a well-known figure. Investigations are ongoing, and more charges may be forthcoming depending on evidence and testimony from other potential victims. Adapted by Asean Now from Daily News 2025-08-08
