Some people cannot get over the fact that, the 'West' apparently 'won' the Cold War, the USSR dismantled itself, communism was dead, nationalism was revived,millions more people are dead, and capitalism took over!

I can't believe that there is so much greed and anger in this world! Am I wrong to 'switch off' and live my life helping the kids, friends and family around me as best I can, using the resources that I've been blessed with?

Ever had the experience of holding queue at Swampy entry points with them?

Common filthy reek. Amongst each other.....not a problem.

But when one finds themselves in public situations, might bathe more than once a week.

At the very least, a dab of perfume or cologne.

I find them to be wonderful, warm hearted people if you make an effort to get to know them, but you do have to make a bit of an effort. Instant buddy types they are not.

Maybe our govt keeps oil prices too high?

Russia has an oil industry due the government inviting foreign investment into the oil industry, coupled with HUGE licensing fees, then when the infrastructure was up and running, the Russian government STOLE to physical assets from the western companies and ran off the investors. If they protested, their reps found themselves in the gulag.

And you wonder why people dislike loud, arrogant, aggressive people of slavic decent.

Russia does have an unfair,corrupt business environment rather like another country that springs immediately to mind. However, I know of no foreigner exiled in Siberia.

Last time I was in Pattaya the Russians were charming families speaking better English than the English. As usual 50% of the western Europeans and Brits were too smelly to get near. Didn't see any Yanks apart from the sailors on leave missing their mums.

That's really pushing it. Most of the Russkies here don't speak English. Often there is one younger member of the family who helps out.

I had many occasions to observe Russians in Patts

The men are either playing the heavy type (you know the big flat head type with big neck and big arms- ok, they are not playing) or the "good boy". The latter are generally younger and easy to open up for a conversation.

The russian ladies in Patts are either the snotty annoying type (some just never stop complaining about everything) or the plump farm girl type.

I actually understand 80% of what they say (I speak a bit of Russian), and I feel hearing russian is not that irritating, except when the stupid snotty girls talk, I just think <deleted>.

I really get irritated by hearing Spanish, Arabic - these two make my hairs stand up. Loud Israelis rank high too, as well as North-African-tainted French (which sadly has become the youth's language in larger French cities today).
