Are The Bib'S Getting More Honest?

Featured Replies

Strange happenings but in the last few days, I was stopped at 3 police roadblocks (in Isaan), had to show my driver's licence and the "book" (I still have the red Bkk licence plate) and was allowed to continue on my journey without having to pay any "fines".

Could this have something to do with my good looks? :D

maybe in isaan they are getting honest

lol here in bangkok still all of them greedy old bast***s they never check if your papers or road tax stickers are up to date or even tell you why were you stopped unless you ask them.

Maybe all the corrupts go to bangkok to rip motorists off.

I have been stopped several times they never asked my driving license or check if my paper work is up to date

maybe this is like saying I haven't had a puncture for a long time (true) but I have never been asked for money, or fined in this country; 22,000km on current motorbike, plus kms done on previous bikes and the car. Been stopped plenty of times but living near the border they're more interested in people here illegally.

Even a year in Phuket living near Chalong Circle, a top spot for fining foreigners, stopped and checked but never fined; I've had a charmed life.

When we moved to this town in March one of the local police - station is 200m from home - introduced himself and reminded me to always wear a helmet when on the bike, part of the '100% helmet' campaign. Apart from that, they just wave.

Long may it last.
