ProfessorFart
R.I.P Best Mate. Possibly the greatest horse of the past 50 years who died at Exeter racecourse today. Such a noble creature who ran like poetry in motion. Thanks for the two trips to Thailand you helped to fund Mate!!! ThaiPauly
Thank God for that. I thought you meant George Best, now that would have been a tradgedy. are you on a wind up?
ProfessorFart
No wind up. One was a genuine sporting legend who reached the top of his profession and remained there unbeaten. The other briefly hit the top and rapidly sunk into celebrity joke status. One, a noble and deserving creature, who had lots yet to offer, lies dead; the other, an utter waste of space for the past 30 years thankfully seems to be recovering. The_Moog
To tell the truth I was more saddened and shocked when I saw this news yesterday than when I heard of Princess Di's death. People always go on about Arkle - but who among us saw Arkle ? - It was 40 years ago. The dignified reaction of BM's trainer and Owner was an exercise in stoicism. I shall go to his grave when i'm next in Exeter - maybe later this month.
