Phuket - Solo Social Chill

Featured Replies

Well, I'm traveling alone for the 1st time since... I can't remember.

I thought Phuket would be a nice place to relax - but now that I'm flying tomorrow...

I've been to Phuket before, with the gf, so not really out for extreme activities, thought I'd just socialize and relax this time - but now that I think about it, I'm crap at socializing.

I arrive on the 4th (Sunday), until the following Saturday, and have no idea what to do.

Are there any places where it's relatively easy to make/meet new friends?

Any pointers?

Anyone up for a beer? lol :/

Plug yourself into Rawai.

Get a room at Green Valley Resort, they have a pool, wifi, onsite bar. restaurants up and down the streets in all directions

Next door is Freebirds, and although Chris the owner doesn't live up to the name of the place (the birds there are not for free) he's a great bloke and there are other good guys there too.

Then off to Asia/Jasmine bars where you will meet plenty of punters googling the girls, and knocking back some drinks. Then down to Laguna bars where you will have plenty of people and lots of partying.

If you are still standing at 3AM, get to Icon pub which is walking distance to your Green Valley Resort. Sleep til 1 the next day, head for Nai Harn Beach.

There is your program designed by GOM, enjoy.

+1 Took the words right out of my mouth GOM. See you at the Freebird Lokililithu!

Thanks, appreciate the advice.

Do you think it would be unrealistic/unlikely to find discussion in a philosophical direction here?

Stupid question?

Probably not.

Do you mean on the Phuket forum of TV or in any of the mentioned bars? Never mind, the answer would be the same: highly unlikely.

You're coming to Thailand for philosophical discussion? Are you having a laugh? (I think so)

Come to the Freebird and we'll have a deep, philosophical discussion about pool, beer, ladies and the pros and cons of toilet paper as opposed to the bum hose! :jerk:

That made me laugh out loud ...

actually starting to appreciate the bum hose...

Yeah, I realise how ridiculous the question was, I'm just really crap at random socialising, and that's about the only area where I can my interest has the potential to override my social retardation. lol

In fact, I've basically only been for a 10 minute walk around since arriving yesterday afternoon, and the rest, up 'til now - hotel room and badly cooked room service.

(Hey, I was told Sea Sun Sand Resort was 3 stars... since Sunset Beach was 3 stars, expected similar - but this place is a bit like, well... where old hookers come to die. The bathroom makes me feel like I'm bathing in oppression, and I swear I could taste poverty at breakfast [despite the mushroom, pepper, and eggshell omelet]. What exactly constitutes a 3 star?)

I might try Freebirds a bit later on, if I can find out how to get there.

sofaking far from the occult-obsessed (i know, i know, lol) chaos-loving hedonist I was 5 years ago - pisses me off. i just spent 3 hours researching the most economical way on how to get a bum hose (really) fitted back home (fitted in the bathroom, obviously). downing alcohol from the mini fridge (*playing rocky theme in the head*), then trying out bangla (nearest suggestion) for a start.

This whole thread had the same effect on me...

However they want to sell it. You're lucky, it could have been a 5-star :)

well... woke up this morning with a cute irish girl (who initially thought i was a local) i met last night. apparently liked my sense of humour, and reminded her of House (even though I'm not a doctor 0_o) well, at least the trip wasn't a total waste.

her hotel (thank <insert deity>)- made coming back to Hotel Sea Sun Dust all the more shittier.
