Mirth Posted September 5, 2011 Share Posted September 5, 2011 They would simply deny and argue that such things do not exists in Thailand and foreigners are to be blamed for their lack of understsnding to their advanced thinking and culture. People should be handing out flyers about all the Thai scams and dangers to people boarding planes bound to Thailand. Maybe some organization in our home country could be encouraged to do it. They seem to support all kind of crazy idea's already. Can you imagine the loss of face if something like that would happen. It would be great to see the Thai government wiggle and discredit this. Too bad most organization in our home countries would never help their own citizen in such a way. Wonder if it could lead to libel claims if it was done in the perspective home countries opposed to Thailand. A nice leaflet exposing the double prices / ripp-offs and scams plus dangers of Thailand. They would have to recognise their actions as a mistake to themselves first let alone admitting their mistakes to anyone else. The place is called "The Buttercup" its where I go to get my western food fix. The food is great they do a different theme every other day so one day it could be German the next Indian. The price can't be beat at 295(+vat+grat its ok the staff is really nice) 11am-2pm. I also like it because I can take my girlfriend there and she has plenty to eat. You would never think something as simple as creme brula would be so tasty to a Thai woman. Its location for people watching is great the biggest mall in Bangkok is across the street. I did get a chuckle about the over eating. I saw this women(Thai maybe Philippine) load up!!! I mean get me 5 to go boxes after I stuffed my face with enough food to feed Somalia load up. Any time tempura prawns hit the deck you had to beat her to them or she would take the whole tray(No sh*t). We are familiar with the staff and I could tell by the look on their face even they thought she went a little to far. But that is about a government subsidising, to quote you, education facilities for it's own nationals, not a business apparantly charging a higher rate for foreigners so they can make more profit. Two tiered pricing in Thai restaurants is unacceptable, although I am sympathetic as it seems some of the foreigners "eat for two" whereas the slim Thais do not have the same tendancy to over eat. C'mon you know the Thai's will eat and eat and eat,we all can never understand where they put it. Correct! Accepted behaviour in a hotel type buffet would be 1.5 to 2 hours max-the locals feel that if a buffet runs from 630-10pm, they can sit there at the table chimming this and that while devouring 4kgs of smoked salmon. We ended up at the Landmark, very nice and with a Hong Kong bank card 50% off.... done. Baiyoke Sky,...tsk tsk!! Oz I hope you made the booking though and then didn't turn up so that they had an empty table. Maybe we should all do that, call to make a booking on the same day using the name Smith and leave them with an empty restaurant for the day? They'd most probably panic with 50 reservations under the name " Smith" thinking that guy from " The Matrix" would turn up and start duplicating himself.
