Seeing Red Over Political Mismanagement

Featured Replies

Anyway, as an aside, those links are full of interesting debate by an assortment of obviously intelligent posters some of whom are now banned. That period of posts falls into my hiatus from TV when I was really busy with family stuff. Does anyone know why such insightful debaters were removed from the forum? It seems strange. (propagandist explanations and posts that may get the poster into trouble with forum management are not welcome replies). Was it the infamous LM/Monarchy baiting techniques used by some posters? I noticed, when looking at ColPyat's profile, that one such infamous baiter posted a gloating comment after ColPyat was banned.

That's because 90% of his defenders didn't even live in Thailand under the Thaksin regime. They don't know the first thing about this place and don't want to know. The other 10% are so bereft of a moral compass they'd be defending Tony Montana if he'd been deposed for creating the nearly failed state Thaksin did..

I recently pointed out to you that the deputy prime minister of the last (Democrat-led) government (Suthep) was involved in highly illegal activity with a banned politician (Newin) in organising a paramilitary force (Blue Shirts) at the 2009 ASEAN summit in Pattaya. You just prevaricated and didn't even acknowledge the information that I provided. Does this make you one of those people that don't want to know the first thing about this place, or one of those people who are bereft of a moral compass?

Using that ever-reliable forum search engine, it would appear that the "insightful debater" pleaded for what he got.

It is getting rather tiring to debate with intellectual imbeciles, meanspirited tossers and simplistic troglodytes, having to bear with their infantile insults, and therefore putting myself into the same classification of sad loosers they are.

I hope the moderators see this post as a reason to ban me for flaming, and assist me this way to break this highly embarrassing addiction of conversing with disgusting characters i avoid like the pest in real life.

Please, mods, do me the favour... :o

PMSL..... Pleaded to be put out of his misery. Thanks for finding that link so quickly ;) . Surely he didn't return for more misery? What about the other posters?

If that poster's flaming is the sort of posting by "obviously intelligent posters" you pine for, it would seem no great loss.

General flaming is par for the course on the politics threads, isn't it? Just go back a few posts on this thread to the one by Lannarebirth that you quoted and gave your seal of approval to for a classic example of this.

Anyway, any more waves of your magic wand for info about the other banned posters in the threads you found so quickly? Any info much appreciated (as is the stuff you've already provided).

No magic wand, just the same search engine that's available for every member to use.

As for flaming, it would seem that your intelligent poster far exceeded what is generally posted nowadays, including lannarebirth.

I did reply to the post and I didn't prevaricate and I resent your assertion that I did. I acknowledged Newin's presence at the 2009 Pattaya affair and stated that I had never seen any evidence that it was related to the government in power. The government tends to use its own enforcement institutions (save the present one). If you can recall what thread it was in, let me know and I'll repost it here for your edification of what I said.

So none of the governments after the coup were legitimate? Were you here for that election - Samak won for PPP, Then was replaced (unnecessarily) by Somchai, who lost majority when some MPs decided that they were unwilling to form a coalition with electoral cheats. This is a legitimate democratic process, forming an armed militia to overthrow the government is not "fighting for democracy," but he, and others, fail to see that.

Were the blockades of Government House and the country's airports part of this "legitimate democratic process?"

As they are facing jail time over it, I would say not. But your attempt to link PAD and democrats fails badly when you remember that their court cases were initiated under the Dem govt.

Just a bit different to the present situation, where the criminals are invited to be part of the govt, thus preventing any further legal proceedings (for the moment).

You are just rotating around the question. The PAD demonstrations were not only instrumental in bringing down the government, these demonstrations were clearly manipulated by the opposition, specifically Abhisit, in order to force the judicial coup - that little detail that you and others gloss over as a "functioning parliamentary system".

Now look who's talking through his ring! This exists only in your tiny little mind - if there were any serious links between the 2 they would be facing the same charges.

Not saying that he didn't object, but enjoying the results of someone else's actions is NOT a crime.

The fact that some of the blue shirts were from the army doesn't relate it to the government? That they were organized behind the army protection lines? That they were organized by Newin? No, nothing to do with the government, just that their function was to make certain that it did not appear that the "government" was using force against the protesters... it was just those darn "blue shirts"... (shoot - why do we have so many colored shirts in Thailand anyway?) Darn, no, not the gov't. They're clean on this one...

:cheesy:

The PAD has violent elements. The red shirts have violent elements. And the Democratic gov't had violent elements and apparently enough members who don't really give a sh@t about human life.

I don't think anyone disputes the Blue Shirts were organized by Newin. Some reports say they were locals (about 100) and some reports say he imported them from Burriram. I never saw any report that said they included members of the Army, but that wouldn't surprise me as that kind of stuff happens all the time here. If Army soldiers were present in that group it would surprise me a litlle (nothing surprises me much here) if they were ordered to be there by Army command.

Anyway, no one here (I think) claims that the Democrat side is free of corruption, some violent elements and the odd loose cannon. Only that it exists in that group orders of magnitude less than in the present regime. As in all "democracies" I am aware of it usually comes down to backing the party which one perceives to be the lesser of two evils.

Those days were good ones and there were a fair few decent posters with different opinions many of whom are no longer posting or only rarely. It is a shame it ended with so many bans, people drifting off and a few who just tried of the same old arguments. It was probably the high point of debate on TV back then re political issues. Colpyat was a good one for sure

Indeed, sounds like a veritable think tank experience, what with posts like,

"intellectual imbeciles, meanspirited tossers and simplistic troglodytes"

.

Not that you did acknowledge Newin's presence at the 2009 Pattaya affair, but, for your edification, here is a repost of a link which includes a video of Newin directing security officials at said affair.

And here is another link to the same video:

btw, Does anyone have a copy of the longer version of this video? BKK Pundit has deleted his, which is a shame because it contains some rather damning footage of Suthep in the same frame as Newin moments prior to the section I've linked.

Several prominent red leaders are from the South and the reason they joined Thaksin was because they had failed to become MPs, Kokaeow, for example, knew he had no chance against Jurin in Phangna, Nattawut was in the same position in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Veera left the Democrats because he was disappointed at not graduating fron Deputy Minister to Minister.

Personal ambition rather than ideals was the main motive.
