AN INTERNATIONAL LONG-DISTANCE BIKING COMPETITION FOR CHARITY WILL BE HELD IN DECEMBER, DUBBED 'SAENGSOM TOUR DE THAILAND'

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will support an international biking competition in December where revenues after expenses will be donated to the tsunami-affected people and cancer patients.

The Deputy Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) who is in charge of tourism products, Mr. SANTICHAI AUA_JONGPRASIT (เอื้อจงประสิทธิ์), revealed that the TAT and Thai Beverage Marketing Co. Ltd. are together supporting an international charity biking competition titled "Saengsom Tour de Thailand 2005". The event will take place from December 2nd to 26th, and span the distance from Chiang Mai to Phuket. More than 200 people are expected to participate in this competition. All revenues earned will be presented to the Max foundation for use in assisting cancer patients and to another foundation for use in helping tsunami-affected people. The biking journey will end in Phuket on December 26th, which marks the 1-year anniversary of last year’s tsunami.

The TAT is sponsoring this event due to its charity purpose, and also due to the expectation it will help publicize Thailand's culture and tourism.
