Can I Borrow Your D-Tracker 250 Stock Muffler For A Few Days?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2008 DTX 250 and it has the old ECU problem symptoms.

I threw away my stock muffler the day I bought the bike because I assumed it was reliable.

I wrote an email to Kawi Rama 9 and they asked me to bring in the bike.

I've done this before and they just blamed the aftermarket exhaust.

Anyway I have the stock header but I need the stock muffler to confirm if it is either the exhaust or the ECU that is causing the stalling.

If I get the stock muffler back on and it still has problems, I'm sure Kawi will replace my ECU and/or O2 sensors.

Once I get a new ECU, then I can go back to my aftermarket exhaust and not be in fear of dying in traffic.

I don't want to buy a stock muffler just to prove to Kawi that I have a bad ECU.

I'm sure some of you have a reliable DTX 250 with an aftermarket exhaust so your old muffler is doing nothing but collecting dust.

If your muffler cures my problems then I'll want to buy it.

I can leave you with collateral so you know I'll return or buy the muffler.

Can anyone help a fellow rider out?

Thanks,

Ted

FYI, a KLX250s muffler won't work, I borrowed a friend's and it has a smaller diameter tube and different O2 sensor bung than a DTX250.

I am in CM and you could use mine, (with some kind of deposit)

However, isn't it just easier to get the ECU and put it on or get an aftermarket one for more power ?

ECU was not the costly

ttakata, maybe you should contact the guy that does the rev limiter bypass box for the d-tracker, he might know whats up with it. He's in CNX though. Maybe you need a new O2 sensor, or a resistor inline with it since you removed the silencer and will throw off the readings?
